Summer is approaching, which means shorts, skirts, and swimsuits! Enter this season with a body and booty you can be proud to show off. The Iconic Butt Lift may be the procedure you need to improve your confidence and enjoy the sunshine!
What Is an Iconic Butt Lift?
The Iconic Butt Lift is a comprehensive procedure that combines standard liposuction with the transfer of the patient’s own fat from other parts of the body (like the arms, stomach, or thighs) to the buttocks. Fat grafting allows you to reduce a problem area while enhancing other areas of the body that may be lacking in volume.
Your incisions will be hidden in the bikini line and natural skin creases, so they won’t show with that new suit you just purchased. All procedural information will be discussed during your consultation and pre-op appointments with Dr. D’Souza, which will give you the chance to ask any questions and get last-minute information before undergoing your Iconic Butt Lift.
Am I a Candidate?
Patients who are in good health and have realistic expectations are great candidates. Candidates should also experience some of these concerns if they wish to undergo the Iconic Butt Lift:
Lax skin in the buttocks
Flat buttocks
Asymmetrical buttocks
Sagging buttocks
Disproportionate buttocks
Square-like figure
Large or no waist
When Can I show Off My Booty?
Start showing off your booty right away! Some results will be noticeable immediately; however, it could take nine to 12 months for your final Iconic Butt Lift results to appear. The body needs time to heal, and the swelling needs to subside over time. It is very important that you stick to a well-balanced diet and exercise routine to prolong your Iconic Butt Lift results.

We all love the feeling of the warm sun shining down on our body; we sometimes even crave it after a long winter or being stuck inside an office all day. We like to think that sunshine does a body good, but does it really? Without proper protection, the sun’s UVA and UVB rays can be extremely harmful to the skin.
At Iconic Plastic Surgery, we offer multiple ways to replenish the skin after it’s had too much sun. Laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and even skin care products are all available options to treat sun-damaged skin.
Too Much Sun
If you are in the sun too much without the proper protection, then you are at risk of getting skin cancer, which could be fatal. You are also doing a disservice to your young, healthy skin if too many harmful rays are hitting your skin without sunscreen. It is imperative that you always cover up while outside and use sunscreen on your face and other parts of your body every day.
How Can I Treat & Protect My Face?
Treating your sun-damaged skin can be done a few different ways. Consulting with Dr. D’Souza about the treatment plan that is right for you is highly encouraged, as some plans are more tedious and intense than others.
Laser Resurfacing
A fractional CO2 laser is used during this nonsurgical procedure to treat dark spots, aging lines, acne, and scars. The skin is heated, which causes a tightening effect on the skin to produce more collagen, resulting in fewer lines and wrinkles. Downtime and recovery are pretty significant for this procedure, so laser resurfacing may not be the treatment for everyone.
Chemical Peels
There are different types of chemical peels to choose from at Iconic Plastic Surgery. These peels contain different agents, including alpha hydroxy, beta hydroxy, salicylic, glycolic, lactic, malic, retinoic, and/or trichloroacetic acids. All of these agents are designed to cleanse, refresh, and replenish the skin. Each peel has different strengths and compositions, so the downtime and recovery time may vary, depending on the type of peel you choose.
Skin Care Options
Taking care of your skin is so important. It may be hard to decide what skin care line to go with because there are so many options available, from drug store brands to high-end products. Eventually, everything starts to seem the same after reading labels as you try to figure out which one is right for you. But Iconic Plastic Surgery has done the research for you, and we only recommend skin care products that are backed by sound scientific research and are effective. ZO® Skin Health is recommended by Iconic Plastic Surgery because of their high-quality active ingredients in the products used to repair damage and restore a youthful appearance.

As the hot summer sun starts to fade away, now is the best time to think about treating your sun-damaged skin. Treatment can consist of a relaxing facial, a chemical peel, or a laser resurfacing treatment; however, it is important to consider all options before choosing the right treatment for your skin.
What Does It Do?
Sun damage is not something to take lightly, and reversing that damage can be a tedious task. Laser resurfacing is a nonsurgical procedure that uses a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser to help correct the damaged skin. This laser heats up the tissues on the face, which naturally increases collagen production to tighten and plump the skin and eliminate fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and sun spots. Treatment typically lasts about one hour.
Downtime & Recovery
The downtime of the procedure is dependent upon the amount of damage that needs to be treated. During your consultation with Dr. D’Souza, you will be able to discuss your desires and come to an agreement about how much treatment is needed for your type of skin and the damage that it has experienced. Once you have had your laser treatment, you will need to lather your skin with Aquaphor® and lidocaine a few times a day to assist in the healing. Recovery from your laser skin resurfacing treatment could last a few days or weeks, so it is best to plan your schedule accordingly.
Results
Even though a sun-kissed face is a huge confidence booster, it is important to take care of your skin by using a broad-spectrum SPF sunscreen any time you go outside. Your laser resurfacing results could last from 5 to 10 years if you take proper care of your skin.
If you feel like laser resurfacing may not be the choice for you, then facials and chemical peels are alternative ways to rejuvenate your skin. Iconic Plastic Surgery has many different facials and peels to choose from that may suit your needs at this time.

Ears that are too large or stick out too far from the head can cause emotional discomfort for both adults and children. Ear surgery, also known as otoplasty, can be performed to reshape or pin back the ears, providing relief from self-consciousness.
What Can Otoplasty Address?
Ear surgery can be performed to correct a number of aesthetic issues. Some of the concerns addressed by otoplasty include the following:
Protruding ears
Overly large ears
Cupped ears
Birth defects
Abnormally shaped ears
Trauma from ear piercing or other injuries
Adult dissatisfaction with previous ear surgery
Dr. D’Souza will discuss the details of your surgery with you during your consultation.
Who Can Undergo Otoplasty?
Ear surgery is one of the few plastic surgery procedures performed on both children and adults. Prominent ears may lead to teasing during childhood, which can cause emotional distress and self-esteem issues later in life. Luckily, otoplasty can be performed once the ears reach their final size, usually around the age of six.
How Is Otoplasty Performed?
For children, otoplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia to ensure that they stay still during the procedure. Adults can usually undergo the surgery using local anesthesia with sedation. The incisions can be made behind the ear or within the curves of the ear, depending on the concern being addressed.
Once the incisions have been made, the cartilage of the ear will be removed or reshaped as needed. If the ear is misshapen due to an injury or birth defect, it can be reshaped using sutures or scraping techniques to achieve the proper contour. The incisions will then be closed with additional sutures.
What Can I Expect During My Recovery?
Once your surgery is completed, your ears will be wrapped in bandages that will provide support and protection. There will be some discomfort, but this can be alleviated with over-the-counter medications. Your bandages will be removed after a few days, and then you will have to wear a protective headband at night for about six weeks. Most patients can return to work as well as most of their normal activities in about a week, and the final results of your surgery will be apparent after two weeks. The results of your ear surgery should be permanent unless you suffer an injury or other event that could affect the appearance of your ears.
If you have lost a significant amount of weight, then you know the feeling of accomplishment that goes with it. However, weight loss can also lead to sagging skin, which can obscure your new silhouette. If you have done the work to lose the weight but are still self-conscious about loose skin, there may be a surgical solution.
Sculpt Your Upper Arms
The upper arms are very susceptible to developing sagging skin and are very difficult to target with exercises. Arm lift surgery, or brachioplasty, can be performed to remove excess skin, fat, and other tissues from the upper arms and provide a slimmer, firmer arm contour.
Arm lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The incision typically extends from the elbow along the back or inside of the upper arm to the underarm. Excess skin and tissues are removed, and the incision is closed using sutures. There will be movement restrictions once your surgery is complete, but most patients can return to their normal activities in two to four weeks.
Smoother, Firmer Thighs
Significant weight loss can also affect the skin and tissues on your thighs. Folds of skin on the upper legs can cause physical discomfort and may make you self-conscious. Thigh lift surgery removes excess tissues to give you smoother, firmer thighs.
Like arm lift surgery, a thigh lift is performed using general anesthesia. The incision is made in the groin crease. Dr. D’Souza then tightens the remaining tissues and removes any excess skin. Most patients are able to return to their regular levels of activity in two to four weeks.
What If I Need More Extensive Surgery?
If a patient has achieved massive weight loss and is left with significant amounts of loose skin and tissues, body lift surgery may be more appropriate. A lower body lift is performed when the patient is experiencing loose, sagging skin on the thighs, buttocks, hips, and abdomen. The procedure is much more extensive than a thigh lift but can provide considerable relief if folds of skin and tissue impede movement or cause physical discomfort.
This procedure also utilizes general anesthesia. The length and location of the incisions used in a body lift will depend on the areas that will benefit most from the surgery. Dr. D’Souza will develop a personalized treatment plan during your consultation. Because this surgery is more comprehensive, the recovery time is longer than after a thigh lift. Most patients are able to return to their daily schedules in six to eight weeks.

Sometimes there are changes that require a little more help than you can do on your own. If you’ve been considering rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as “nose job”, you’ve probably heard that it is a surgical procedure designed to modify or adjust your nose. We support our patients through consultations and personal recommendations meant to fit their facial aesthetic and aesthetic goals. If your profile has made you feel less than confident or less beautiful than you really are, we know we can walk you through the process. But did you know there are other reasons why our patients also choose a nose job too?
What are the reasons for rhinoplasty (nose job)?
Often times patients choose a nose job for reasons commonly unknown such as:
•Breathing correction: A deviated septum can cause chronic snoring, and this can lead to problems that can affect the productivity of your daily life and those around you.
•Trauma: Accidents happen, and sometimes unforeseen encounters in sports, car accidents or daily life can cause the need for surgery to return your profile to an improved form with reconstructive surgery.
•Sinus Problems: Sinus infections and sinusitis are problems that can be caused by a deviated septum, which can also lead to chronic snoring!
•Birth defects: Sometimes individuals are born a little different and need help from a considerate practice or doctor, like Dr. D’Souza, in order to assess current needs and make thought-out recommendations to move confidently forward.
Sometimes patients don’t want big changes to their nose and want to look like themselves after the operation. Some patients may be concerned with the width of the nose, others may be concerned with their hump, while others may simply want help with their breathing problems. Nasal obstruction may be due to large turbinates inside the nose, a deviated septum, or inflamed nasal mucosa. There are many instances where sprays may help to fix these breathing obstructions. Other times, the septum or turbinate may require a trip to the operating room to be taken care of.
Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
A good candidate for rhinoplasty is one who desires improvement but not perfection. Most patients feel that their nose is too large or too small or doesn’t fit in with the rest of their face. Others have difficulty breathing. Other essentials of a good candidate for the rhinoplasty are those who have:
•Thoughtful consideration
• No major health problems
• Realistic expectations
• Non-smoking
It’s important to understand that there is no single aesthetic profile or nose that is perfect or beautiful. The nose is viewed not only alone but in relation to the shape and size of the rest of your face. Your consultation will include how your nose should share the characteristics of the rest of your face and accentuate them. With that being said, we’re just here to help you!
Dr. D’Souza spent years dedicated to facial aesthetic surgery and rhinoplasty at the Cleveland Clinic and during his time at UCSD. At the clinic, he was able to study with some of the well-known giants of the nose job reconstruction profession. Dr. D’Souza specializes in both open and closed rhinoplasty techniques and tailors each approach to the patient’s facial profile. The techniques used in the rhinoplasty operation focus on providing a balanced, natural result that remains functional for breathing as well.
When choosing what local beauty spa to help you achieve your ideal aesthetic profile, keep in mind that Iconic Plastic Surgery’s very own Dr. Dr. D’Souza is a dedicated plastic surgeon focused on aesthetic surgery of the face, nose, breast, body and migraine surgery, who serves the cities and surrounding areas in San Diego County. Puffiness – not as in morning puffiness but real accumulated swollenness, from life, age and accumulated tiredness.
For persons with “hooded eyelids” or swollen skin around the eyes, Blepharoplasty is a surgery that corrects and tightens the area. The surgeon incises the eyelid to remove excess muscle and skin tissue then closes it again, leaving you with a more youthful appearance.
At Iconic Plastic Surgery, we specialize in cosmetic surgeries such as the eyelid lift. We pride ourselves with treating patients who walk out of our office feeling more confident and happier about their appearance. The treatment can take between 45 minutes and 2 hours, depending on how you get your lid treatment done.
How do I know if blepharoplasty is right for me?
You’re likely a candidate for blepharoplasty if:
• You have obstructed vision from your sagging eyelids.
• Your eyes are noticeably puffier than they used to be.
• You have eyebags under the eyes that make you look more aged or tired.
It’s hazardous to have one’s vision obstructed by hooded eyelids or anything at all. If you have sagging skin above your eyes that obstructs your vision, functional blepharoplasty should be a serious consideration for you. Vision is precious, and deterioration should be prevented as much as possible especially considering how much we depend on our eyes daily. You can prevent yourself from enduring the infliction of such conditions to others by undergoing this surgery. Having hooded eyelids that obstruct vision can impair your skills for driving, work and every other aspect of life in which vision is crucial. Functional blepharoplasty works to remove excess skin, and muscle tissue from the upper eyelid, leaving you with a tighter and more youthful appearance after surgery- not to mention better vision, especially peripheral.
Even if your vision isn’t obstructed by your eyelids, you can get blepharoplasty. Over time, we accumulate under eye sagginess from allergies, tiredness, age, and heredity. Sagging skin under the eyes can also draw attention away from other attractive aspects of your face. Having puffiness under the eyes or drooping skin can put years on your appearance. Some accumulate this sagginess more heavily than others, which leads to having a more aged look. Cosmetic blepharoplasty works to remove excess skin from under the eyes, leaving you with a more useful and tightened appearance.
In either case, Blepharoplasty works to remove excess skin and muscle tissue from the lids and closing the tissue to create a tighter more youthful appearance.
Of course, there are some things to consider before scheduling an appointment.
You should wait to schedule an appointment if:
• You smoke. Smoking gets in the way of the healing process after surgery, so it is highly discouraged. Make sure you quit smoking before going through your procedure, that way you can do everything and heal under optimal health conditions.
• You have unhealthy skin or muscle tissue. This surgery cuts into our tissue, so it’s crucial that your cells are in optimal health before beginning.
At Iconic Plastic Surgery, Dr. D’Souza balances his surgical expertise with aesthetic determination. After your procedure, he will suggest that you take a few steps to make sure everything heals just right. Be prepared to experience some discomfort, swelling and bruising after the surgery. This is only normal after the invasive procedure. After the lift, you might also have blurred vision from the ointment, double vision and some sensitivity to light. Don’t worry, when you take the right precaution after your treatment, those discomforts will just be temporary. After you pass this slight rough spot, things will be a breeze. To make sure you’re putting yourself in the best position for your health, make sure you do the following after the procedure:
Icing your eyes will be very important. After incision procedures, tissue tends to swell. It’s important to make sure you keep yourself under conditions that won’t make your eyelids swell excessively after the repairment.
No contact lenses. Sorry, but you can’t be touching your eyes let alone putting anything them for about two weeks.
Sunglasses – use them. Protect your eyes as much as possible for the sun and wind.
Remember to clean your eyes – and gently. Infection can occur after surgery, and taking proper care is crucial to avoid any such damage.
No straining activities for a week. In order to heal, you need to avoid all activities that might prompt for sweat or other kinds of pathogens to enter the eyes. Avoid any such activity to make sure your eye area stays clean and doesn’t infect during this time of the healing process.
Dr. Gehaan D’Souza is a surgeon so that he can better the lives of those surrounding him. He loves to see his patients walk out with a new sense of pride and confidence and bringing them back to a state of personal aesthetic satisfaction – not to mention the medical pluses his surgeries brings to patients. Blepharoplasty is particularly important to this doctor as vision and safety are two aspects of human life that are undoubtedly precious. Working to correct a realm of life improvement gratifies Dr. D’Souza, and his passion lies in seeing people do better after his practice.
If you’re looking for natural, more fuller breast, are a new mommy, consider a breast augmentation at Iconic Plastic Surgery, we’re happy to take care of our Carlsbad community.
What is it
After certain life events, patients might feel it necessary to reshape or add to the volume of their breasts to improve their overall look, feel, and appearance. Breast Augmentation is the process of enhancing breast shape with breast implants or by transferring fat to the area. Breast size is improved by placing breast implants under breast tissue or above the chest muscles. The procedure increases the size of breasts and restores the volume lost after weight loss, pregnancy and other medical conditions. Some even approach breast augmentation to increase in positive self-image if they feel the current shape of their breast doesn’t complement their overall self.
If you have recently undergone pregnancy, weight loss or generally want to improve your self-image, breast augmentation is a considerable option for you. You can take a look for yourself, and browse our before and after gallery to see real results from real patients.
At Iconic Plastic Surgery, we are proud to serve patients in Carlsbad and surrounding areas such as Vista, Oceanside, and Northern San Diego. Dr. Gehaan D’Souza is a practicing surgeon who graduated as a valedictorian at John Hopkins University and proceeded to get his Medical Doctor Degree from University of California Irvine. Known for his precision, meticulous technique and individualized attention towards each patient, Doctor D’Souza also focuses on other aesthetic surgery such as that for the face, nose, body and migraine.
Is it right for you?
Self-image and confidence are a crucial aspect to your day to day life. When women take their confidence in stride, they radiate their natural beauty. Maybe your breasts are not as proportionate with the rest of your body as you would like them to be, and you have been seriously considering doing something to change that. And maybe the look of your breasts and the overall symmetry of your breasts is an area of insecurity for you, this procedure is a right fit for you. It can be frustrating to not look your best in in your favorite clothes. If that’s the case for you, consider getting breast augmentation. Additionally, women who have decreased in breast volume due to a significant weight loss or a pregnancy are great candidates for breast augmentation. We recommend this procedure if you fit any of the categories above because it will help to even out, add and restore shape to your bust. You can request an appointment with Dr. D’Souza to get a full consultation on your decision to approach breast augmentation, today.
How it works
A breast augmentation involves inserting implants or fat under the breast tissue or over the pectoral muscle. Depending on the state of your pectoral muscle, several incisions can be made.
• Inframammory – Natural Creaseline below breast
• Transaxillary – near the armpit
• Periareola – Around the outside perimeter of the areola
• Transumbilical – In the navel
Implants
Choosing the kind of implants is very important. Whether you want a fat transfer, saline implants or silicone implants, it’s crucial to understand all of your options before making a decision.
Saline breast implants are filled with a sterile saltwater solution that can be absorbed by the body. These specific implants enhance the firmness of your breasts and are FDA-approved for women above the age of 18. Typically, these implants last between 4 to 10 years.
Silicone breast implants are filled with silicone gel. The look and feel of silicone implants are like that of natural breast tissues. These specific implants are FDA-approved for women over the age of 22 years. These breast implants also usually last about 10 to 20 years.
Procedure
Dr. D’Souza pays strict attention to avoiding trauma to the breast tissue and pectoral muscles. Before the surgery starts, anesthesia is administered by an anesthesiologist, and during this time a pocket is created for the implant. At Iconic Plastic Surgery, we are loyal to administering a surgical method that decreases pain and ensures you a smooth recovery process.
Not only that but also, Dr. Gehaan D’Souza’s meticulous technique allows him to administer Rapid Recovery Breast Augmentation. Such technique makes sure that the procedure causes as little bleeding as possible. Dr. D’Souza believes that the bleeding near the ribs is what causes discomfort during the post-procedure recovery time. The precision and the aversion of discomfort that he strives for is what ensures that his patients spend less time in the operating room, allowing for a quicker recovery time after the procedure.
When it comes to this kind of breast augmentation, it’s crucial that the implant selected is not too large or too small for your breast wall or for your body type. Dr. D’Souza takes a thorough analysis of all of your options during your consultation, including the measurement of your breast width and it’s stretch. Only your best options will be carefully considered and analyzed, and moving forward, Dr. D’Souza will administer his artistic approach, extreme sterility, and accuracy during the surgery.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
Breast augmentation will improve the symmetry of your breasts, and their proportions to the rest of the body. After certain events, such as pregnancy or weight loss, this is an optimal procedure for returning to a shapely silhouette again and for adding more to your overall feminine contour. All in all, breast augmentation can improve your day to day life by bringing an extra boost to your confidence.
Cons:
Breast augmentation will require monitoring and they will eventually need replacement. You may also experience soreness or bruising after the procedure as well. Fortunately though, thanks to D’Souza’s careful technique and artistry, the average pain experienced by a patient after breast augmentation is significantly reduced and many patients only require a Tylenol after the surgery.
Dr. D’Souza encourages his patients to go out and treat themselves after the procedure. Breast implants can be the next big thing for your image and self-confidence. If you want to safely and beautifully add a boost to your femininity and self-confidence, please visit us our friendly office at 3144 El Camino Real Suite 200, Carlsbad, CA 92008or give us a call to schedule a consultation today.
