Rhinoplasty is the operation where photographs are most often misread. A nose is judged in relation to the face around it, so a change that looks subtle in a photograph can be the change that made the whole face settle. The cases here are deliberately not dramatic transformations.

What to look for

Compare the profile and the three-quarter view together, and look at the bridge, the tip, and the angle where the nose meets the upper lip as separate things. Then look at the front view last and ask whether the face looks more balanced, not whether the nose looks smaller. Smaller is not the goal; proportion is.

Breathing as well as appearance

Some patients come in because they cannot breathe well through one side, with the appearance of the nose a secondary concern or none at all. Functional and cosmetic goals are often addressed in the same operation, and it is worth being explicit about which matters more to you.
