Otoplasty Before & After Photos
Otoplasty results from Dr. Gehaan D’Souza in Carlsbad. Ear surgery repositions ears that sit too far from the head, or reshapes cartilage that did not fold as it normally would during development.
This is one of the few procedures on this site performed on children as well as adults. The cartilage is mature enough for surgery from around age five or six, and many families choose to have it done before school-age teasing becomes a factor. Adults who never had it done as children are also common here, and the operation is essentially the same.
What to look for
Judge these from the front view first, because that is how other people see the ears. Look at how far each ear projects and whether the two now match — symmetry matters more than any absolute measurement. Then check the profile: a natural result keeps the normal folds and contours of the ear rather than flattening it against the head.
Where the scars sit
Incisions are placed behind the ear, in the crease where it meets the head, so they are not visible from the front in ordinary life.
