Improve Your Jawline with Chin Augmentation

A weak chin can have a dramatic effect on your facial appearance and your self-esteem. A receding chin can also make your nose look larger or disproportionate to the rest of your face. Chin augmentation surgery is a way to permanently enhance the shape and projection of your chin, improving your profile as well as your confidence.

How Does Chin Augmentation Work?

Chin augmentation surgery involves the insertion of a solid silicone implant into an incision made on the underside of the chin. Implants can be chosen from a few standard shapes and sizes, or they can be custom made. General anesthesia is used for your safety and comfort, and the incision is made so that it is easily concealed in natural folds so that it is barely noticeable.

Chin implants can not only improve the projection of the chin, but they can also balance out the proportions of the nose and other facial features. Many patients feel that they need to undergo nose surgery, only to discover that chin implants are enough to make their nose look smaller.

Are Chin Implants Permanent?

Yes. Because the implants are made of solid silicone, you do not need to worry about having it replaced like you would with a breast implant. While some patients may change their minds and want their implants removed, most people are extremely happy with their results.

If you are unhappy with a receding chin or feel that your chin is compromising your facial profile and self-confidence, Dr. D’Souza can develop a tailored surgical plan to help improve your facial contours and enhance your appearance.

How Long Will My Recovery Last?

Immediately after your surgery, you will see swelling and bruising along your chin. These symptoms can make smiling, talking, and other facial movements uncomfortable for the first few days of your recovery. Any post-operative pain or discomfort can be controlled with medication, and most patients are able to return to work in about three to five days.

Sleeping with your head elevated can help reduce any swelling. Cold compresses may also be useful. Your diet will likely be restricted to soft foods for the first seven to 10 days.
