How to Enhance Your Facelift for Optimal Results

The natural aging process, environmental stressors, gravity, and lifestyle choices can cause the skin and tissues of your face to begin to sag, which in turn causes wrinkles, jowls, loss of jawline definition, and other aesthetic concerns.

What Is a Facelift?

Facelift surgery is performed to lift sagging tissues in the midface and remove excess skin. An incision is typically made along the hairline in front of and behind the ear. The underlying fat, muscles, and other tissues are lifted, and then the skin is pulled taut. Facelift surgery is an excellent way to address cosmetic issues in the lower two-thirds of the face. However, the upper face can also show signs of aging that cannot be corrected with a facelift. Luckily, there are other procedures that can be combined with your facelift for overall facial rejuvenation.

The Eyes and Brows

For patients who have horizontal forehead lines, sagging brows, or other signs of aging around the eyes, there are two procedures that can be performed. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, can be done on the upper lids, lower lids, or both. The incisions can be hidden in the crease of the eyelids. Under-eye bags and sagging upper eyelids can both be addressed by this procedure. A brow lift can be performed to lift sagging brows and smooth forehead lines.

Balance Your New Appearance

While many people pay attention to the signs of aging on their face, the neck is also an important area. Neglecting the appearance of the neck can cause an unbalanced aesthetic. Neck lift surgery is often combined with a facelift to avoid this issue.

If the contour of your face is imbalanced due to a receding chin, you may wish to have a chin implant inserted. These solid silicone implants can help augment the shape of the chin, giving you a more defined jawline and facial structure.

Non-Surgical Solutions

Some patients may not need to add another surgery to their treatment plan, but they may still wish to add another treatment. Fat grafting can be performed to restore volume to areas that have begun to look hollow, such as the cheeks or the temples. Fat is removed from one area of the body, such as the abdomen or thighs, using liposuction. The fat is then purified and injected into the treatment site. This is a natural way of restoring volume, so there is no risk of an allergic reaction.

If skin texture is a concern, laser resurfacing may be a good option. Concentrated light energy is used to remove the damaged outer layers of tissue, revealing healthy skin underneath and encouraging the production of collagen. This treatment can help enhance your newly rejuvenated appearance.

Why Is a Good Skincare Regimen Important?

Your skin is the largest organ, and you should care for it the way you care for the rest of your body. A proper skincare regimen includes a few different products and should be followed every day. While you should already be protecting your skin from damage, it is important to be even more diligent after you have had a cosmetic treatment. A good skincare routine can also help slow down the appearance of further signs of aging.

What Is ZO® Skin Health?

ZO® Skin Health was developed by skincare expert and board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Zein Obagi. He developed the brand to provide people with products to truly optimize the health of their skin. The products have been created using the latest technology to help patients achieve and maintain healthy, beautiful skin.

Here at Iconic Plastic Surgery, we also offer products from ZO® Medical. These treatments are only available for use by professionals and can be used to treat several skin conditions, including severe acne, hyperpigmentation, and rosacea. Once the health of your skin has been stabilized, you can use ZO® Skin Health products in your everyday routine.

How Will a Skincare Routine Prolong My Results?

Skincare after a procedure is important because if you do not take care of your skin, you are basically undoing all of the work that was just done. Moisturizing and protecting your skin from the sun are the two most important steps to take. You should also try to avoid touching your face as much as you can. Serums and other products can be added to your routine according to the concerns that you wish to correct or prevent. Maintaining healthy skin will take less effort than trying to fix any damage that has already occurred.

Look Effortlessly Polished with Microblading

The appearance of your eyebrows has a significant impact on the way the rest of your face looks. We live in a fast-paced world, and sometimes you don’t have time to put on makeup before you start your day. Microblading can give you sculpted, polished brows without the need for eyebrow pencils.

What Is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo that can be applied to fill out sparse eyebrows. A small needle is used to deposit pigment under the skin, and each “hair” is tattooed individually for a natural appearance. Microblading can be used to fill in patchy brows or even to fully reconstruct missing eyebrows, depending on your needs.

What Can I Expect During My Procedure?

Your esthetician will first determine the ideal shape and arch of your brows. A topical numbing cream may be applied for your comfort. Then the tattoo machine will be used to fill in your brows. It usually takes one to two hours to complete your microblading session.

Once your procedure is finished, you may notice that the tattooed areas look dark. This effect is normal, and the pigment will fade and settle as your skin heals. Your brows may also be red and swollen, but these side effects should resolve in one to two days. Over-the-counter pain medication can be used if you desire.

How Long Will My New Brows Last?

You will need to come in for a touch-up treatment four to six weeks after your initial session. Pigment and brow thickness can be adjusted at this time. Once your touch ups are complete and your skin has completely healed, you can expect your results to last for one to three years, depending on your skin type, age, and other factors.

If you want an even more dramatic effect, you may choose to have lash extensions applied. Combined with microblading, lash extensions can give you a polished, put-together look even when you don’t have time for makeup.

How Do I Maintain My Microbladed Eyebrows?

While you are healing, you should stay out of the sun, swimming pools, and saunas. Sun protection is also essential after you have healed, as UV rays can cause your tattoo to fade faster. If you use products that contain alpha-hydroxy acids or glycolic acid, your tattoo may also fade more quickly.
