We’ve all heard the saying, “The eyes are the window to the soul.” But as we age, the skin on our eyelids becomes heavy and can sag, causing you to lose the vibrant and youthful appearance that you once had. Additionally, when your eyelids sag, your vision can become obstructed, causing you to lose some of your peripheral vision. Luckily, eyelid surgery, blepharoplasty, can help give you eyes that let you look as young as you feel and see the world more clearly than you have in years!
Eyelid surgery is one of the most commonly performed and successful cosmetic surgeries each and every year. In fact, in 2020, over 325,000 eyelid surgeries were performed. At Iconic Plastic Surgery, Dr. D’Souza takes time to make sure that your eyelid surgery is successful and that you are able to have the results that you’ve been looking for!
How Is Eyelid Surgery Performed?
Eyelid surgery is generally performed under local anesthesia, though some patients may require IV sedation. Once the anesthesia has been administered, Dr. D’Souza will make incisions along the natural creases of your upper eyelid. He will then remove excess muscle and fat in the upper eyelids before closing the incision with sutures. For the lower eyelid, he will remove any excess muscle or fat and then redistribute the remaining muscle and fat to give you a more contoured appearance.
What Can I Expect After My Eyelid Surgery?
Once the swelling has subsided, you will find yourself with eyelids that are more in balance with the rest of your face. Not only will you have a clearer, more youthful facial aesthetic, but you will be able to see clearer and feel more confident in your appearance, as well. After your eyelid surgery, you’ll be able to show your soul to the world, knowing that you are looking as beautiful as you feel!
