Are you tired of “wingin’ it?” Not with decisions and life, but with your arms. You know, the annoying skin that dangles when you wave or that moves whenever you put your arms out. The good news is that arm lift surgery can help improve the appearance of your arms by removing the excess skin and fat that often causes men and women to be self-conscious.
What Is Arm Lift Surgery?
Arm lift surgery, or the technical term brachioplasty, is a procedure that focuses on tightening and smoothing the underlying supportive tissue that defines the shape of the upper arm. It is well-suited for individuals who have lost a substantial amount of weight since they experience loose, sagging skin. Arm lift surgery is also suitable for older men and women who have loose skin due to the natural effects of aging.
Recovery Timeline
After surgery, you probably want to know when you’ll be back to normal. Although recovery time varies with each individual patient, this guide will give you some general knowledge and information about what to expect and when to expect it after your arm lift.
One Week After Surgery
Pain should have subsided enough at this point to no longer need or rely on pain medication. The swelling in the surgical area is still present; however, it will be going down over the course of the next two to three weeks.
10 Days After Surgery
Patients are starting to gain more mobility in their arms; although, heavy lifting and exercise should still be avoided. Bandages, stitches, and drains will be removed at this point, but Dr. D’Souza may require a compression garment to be worn to aid in the healing process.
Four to Six Weeks After Surgery
Bruising and swelling should be fully subsided by this point in the recovery period. Scarring will continue to lessen as time goes on. Most patients are released to go back to normal activities and work at this point.
