How Does Restylane® Work?
Restylane® is an FDA-approved injectable gel that contains hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally produced by the body that helps keep the skin hydrated and supple. Restylane® is designed to add volume to the face and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The injection treatment is performed with a fine needle and can be completed in about 30 minutes. The effects of Restylane® typically last between six and nine months.
Restylane® Options
Restylane® and Restylane-L®: Restylane® and Restylane-L® can be injected into the deep layers of the facial tissue to correct moderate to severe wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds (lines between the nose and corners of the mouth). These formulations can also be injected into the lips to smooth fine lines and add volume.
Restylane® Lyft with Lidocaine: This formulation can be used to smooth nasolabial folds and to add volume to cheeks that appear hollow or deflated due to aging. Restylane® Lyft with Lidocaine can also be injected into the backs of the hands to restore youthful plumpness.
Restylane® Silk: Restylane® Silk is used to add volume to the lips and smooth fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth.
Restylane® Refyne: Restylane® Refyne was designed to be injected deep into the facial tissues to help address moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds in the midface (such as nasolabial folds).
Restylane® Defyne: Restylane® Defyne can be used to correct deep-set lines and wrinkles while helping you maintain a natural appearance.
Recovery
After your injections, you may experience some swelling and redness. These symptoms typically last for two to three days. Most patients resume their regular activities immediately after treatment. However, we recommend that you avoid excessive sun exposure.
Results
Restylane® products are not designed to be permanent, and the longevity of your outcome will depend on various factors, including your skin type, lifestyle, and age. The results of your treatment can last between four and nine months, depending on the areas treated and the formulation used. Injections may be repeated as needed to maintain a natural, youthful appearance.
